Our Approach to Academic Counseling
Next Level Council’s Mission
Whether we’re working with individual students, small peer groups, or an entire graduating class, we dedicate time to getting to know what students need to excel at the next stage of their education
We help students confront the challenges that they will face in their academic transitions
We draw on personal experiences; the same ones my peers and I faced as students
We take time to explore the variety of ambitions, goals, and needs each student require
The Next Level Council Approach
1. We get to know you
The role of our organization is to provide students with timely, useful advice.
We begin our work with questionnaires:
Asking administrators, advisors and counselors the content most relevant to the needs of their students
Asking parents to gain insight into what areas could help us personal our message
Our goal is to know who our audience is, and how we can serve them best.
2. We develop discussion based consultations and workshops
We are collaborators first. Whether we’re doing in person or online, individual or larger audiences, we tailor our agenda to serve college-interested underclassmen, graduating seniors, or first- and second-year college students.
We work in a variety of formats:
Small group workshops in person and remotely
1-on-1 with students
1-on-1 with parents
In conjunction with counselors as an advisory support team
3. We pilot a program with you
Implementation is about starting small, and building on what works. We work with schools of all sizes in small group settings to ensure we have tailored solutions correctly.
5 to 10 students in an initial cohort
Track their progress and performance in college admissions
Revisit and revise
Rollout to additional participants.
No two students are alike, and no group of students needs precisely the same support. Our goal is to provide our expertise to student populations in the way that’s most impactful for them.
We are excited to collaborate, and eager to hear what you have to say!
